Anchal, A MAGIC LOCATION

Anchal is an urban town located in the centre of Kollam district in Kerala, India. There are a number of different legends about the origin of the name Anchal. One legend is that there used to be an "Anchalappis" at the site of the present range office junction, from which the name "Anchal" originates. Another legend is, how five disputes evolved in the region, leading to the name of the land of five disputes, proverbs or puzzles. Another myth is that, the five Banyan trees or "Aal" in the region, are the origin the name Anchal, a portmanteau of Anch meaning five and Aal meaning Banyan tree. The nearest railway stations are the Punalur Railway Station and the Kollam Junction Railway Station, located respectively 12 km and 38 km away. he nearest International Airport is Trivandrum International Airport, located 55 km from Anchal

Jatayu Rock

Jatayu Earth Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park or Jatayu Rock, is a park and tourism centre at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala, India. It stands at an altitude of 350m (1200ft) above the mean sea level. Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture, which is of Jatayu.

Thenmala

Thenmala is a tourist destination in the eastern side of Kollam district in Kerala, and is the first eco-tourism centre in India. The word 'Thenmala' means "Honey hill" in Malayalam language. It is known for its high quality honey export. The town is 66 km away from Kollam city, 69 km from the state capital Trivandrum and is just 14 km away from Tamil Nadu state border.

Adavi Eco Tourism

Adavi is a major tourist destination in Konni, Kerala situated in the banks of Kallar river. Eco-tourism project in Adavi is jointly launched by Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and Department of Forests and Wildlife, Kerala. The main attraction in Adavi is Coracle riding and Bamboo huts, which are erected on the banks of Kallar river.

Punalur Suspension Bridge

The Punalur Suspension Bridge, located in Punalur, India is the 19th century motorable Bridge in Kerala, which was built by Travancore Government and is now a historical attraction. The bridge has a length of 400 feet (120 m). The suspension bridge was built to prevent wild animals from crossing into the town from the forest area.

Kuttalam Falls

Courtallam, natively spelt Kutralam or Kuttalam is a panchayat town situated at a mean elevation of 160 m (520 ft) in the foothills of the Western Ghats. The Coutrallam Falls on the Chittar River is a major tourist attraction. The Kutralanatha swamy temple is the location of Chitra Sabha, one of the five sabhas of Nataraja, a form of Lord Shiva.
